Installation Commander Col. Daniel L. Thomas is surrounded by members of the Freedom Inn dining facility staff as he holds the trophy presented to Fort Meade as the "Large Garrison Winner" of the 2011 U.S. Army Philip A. Connelly Award for Excellence in Food Service program. The competition is a year-long event and focuses on the overall operation and effectiveness of Army facilities throughout the world. The trophy recognizes the hard work and dedication of Fort Mead's dining facility staff over the past year. Representatives from the winning teams came from around the world to be honored during a formal joint service ceremony held April 3, in the Chicago area.
