Security guard dead at 29

Wackenhut Security Services Officer Andrew Myers died Oct. 5. He was 29.
Myers had been a security officer on Fort Meade since July of 2006. He worked for Wackenhut Security Services as a Security Officer since Oct. 2007.
He is survived by wife Joyce Myers, daughter Annalyse, sons Dominic and Xander, all of Laurel, as well as brother Jerry Myers Jr. and mother Patricia Myers.
A memorial service was held Friday at Fort Meade's Calvary Chapel.
Myers was born in Greenville, S.C. on June 8, 1979 and graduated from Capital High School in Boise, Idaho in 1999. He had lived on Fort Meade with his family until this summer, when they relocated to Laurel. Myers previously was in the Army and his widow, Joyce Myers, is in the Army National Guard.
"He was a great employee that cared about safety on Fort Meade," said Wackenhut Security Services Chief of Guards William Beach. "He was professional and concerned about doing the right thing."
