Ducks Unlimited annual sponsor dinner
The Meade Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold its annual sponsor dinner on March 7 from 6 to 10 p.m. The dinner will be held at Snyder's Willow Grove located at 841 N. Hammonds Ferry Road in Linthicum Heights. The price for the event is $85 per couple or $45 per person. Children under 14 pay $20. The price includes food, a limited open bar, silent and live auctions, raffles and attendance prizes. The entire family is welcome to attend. Mount Vernon opens presidential kidnapping scene
The Historic George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens will temporarily open the Mansion's basement where a pivotal scene was filmed for the movie "National Treasure" and Nicolas Cage's character kidnaps the president. The rare tours of George Washington's basement will be offered on weekends until Feb. 10. Tours of the basement will be included in regular admission to Mount Vernon. American boating course
The Patapsco River Power Squadron will offer an American boating course at the Bass Pro Shop in Arundel Mills starting March 10 and again on April 14. The course consists of four sessions on consecutive Mondays. Each session is two hours long. Attendance is limited to 15 people per class. Completion of the course will result in a safe boating certificate recognized throughout the United States. Cost of the class is $30 to cover the cost of the text book and accompanying CD.
